I've just returned from Whitefish, Montana. The town is an inspiring hamlet, a throwback to how ski towns should be without the rub of gentrification. The cuisine was spectacular and the snow deep. We skied Whitefish Mountain Resort for a couple of days before heading out with Great Northern Powder Guides for a day of snowcat skiing in the Whitefish Range. Ten thousand vertical feet later, with tired thighs, I lamented on how this truly is the Last Best Place. I'll be back for sure. Hopefully, someday, for good.
