We just returned from four days in New Hampshire’s wonderful north country where we spent three nights on Back Lake at Tall Timber Lodge in a lakeside cabin. With our guide, Mickey Cunliffe, we fished the “trophy stretch” of the Upper CT River and the “no kill stretch” of that same river. These stretches string the Upper Connecticut Lakes together. We caught many salmon, brown and brook trout and had a misty, drizzly, but great time. Mickey was a great guide, very helpful with Darcie as she hadn’t fished a tight river before (and this one was swift with technical currents and wading.)
Big thanks to the Caron family who hosted us. They run a very special operation in a very special place. Their property also boasts the Rainbow Grille and Tavern, a fantastic pub and fine-dining restaurant.
