We just returned from a wonderful five days at Mt. Assiniboine Lodge in British Columbia. Our hosts Claude and Annik and their entire staff made sure we were fed and not only served up great gastronic creations, but guided us to expansive alpine touring terrain. The oldest backcountry ski lodge in North America, these days you helicopter in, but after that there’s no WiFi, no running water in the cabins, and everything you need, nothing you don’t. We’ll be back to climb Assiniboine, who emerged from the clouds after a two day storm that brought us two feet of fresh and some of the best turns of our lives, despite the hazardous avalanche conditions on steeper slopes. Thanks so much to the entire team and the great group with whom we spent the week.
