Darcie and I just returned from Turneffe Atoll off the coast of Belize.  One of only three atolls in this hemisphere, it was a wonderful trip chasing bonefish, permit and tarpon.  While the permit would evade us, I came tight on three tarpon and landed one, plus scores of bones.  The primary focus of the trip was to write two articles for Fly Fisherman magazine, one about the resort, Turneffe Flats, the other about environmental threats to the atoll.  I’m honored to be able to share ongoing conservation efforts with our readers and other problems face this wonderful place.  And I’m indebted to our hosts, Craig and Karen Hayes, who work tirelessly to stand up.
